The Story Behind The Provident Investor — and Why It Exists
My name is Jesse Fisher, and for more than four decades I’ve been studying patterns — in data, in systems, in communities, and in human behavior. I’ve always been fascinated by how things work and how people can make wiser decisions when they have clarity instead of noise.
I hold a degree in Mathematics Education and discovered early in life that problem-solving was one of my strongest gifts. In the mid-1980s, when the concept of artificial intelligence was just being introduced in magazines like Popular Science, I programmed an early AI entity on my Mac Plus. That led to a lifelong hobby of building analytical tools: text-analysis programs, fractal generators, deductive reasoning tools, and even a software version of the Franklin Planner before the company developed their own.
Professionally, I spent many years as a business consultant, optimizing workflows and designing systems that helped companies grow. I once tripled the revenue of a construction company by redesigning its bidding and project management systems. I streamlined government processes, reducing a full-time 40-hour job to a 12-hour part-time role. I later applied those same skills to a private mint, dramatically reducing order-fulfillment times through improved systems.
These experiences taught me something important:
Good systems protect people from bad decisions.
Why I Created The Provident Investor
When I retired, I finally had the time to focus seriously on managing my own investments. I began studying the work of Ray Dalio and was struck by the wisdom of his approach: stop guessing, stop reacting emotionally, and instead build a system that evaluates history, cycles, and data — then follow the system.
I remembered something I learned decades earlier from the success mentor Jim Rohn, who said:
“If you want to be successful, find someone who is—and model what they do.”
So that’s what I did!
I built my own automated, multi-indicator system — the Financial Preparedness Briefing — to help me avoid the emotional mistakes I made as a young investor. My first big investment at age 17 was silver, bought while it was rising toward $50 an ounce… only to crash before I sold. I wish I had this system back then.
The system worked so well for me that I began sharing it with my adult children. I wanted them to have something I never had — clear, calm guidance that helps families prepare financially without fear or hype.
That’s when The Provident Investor was born.
A Mission Rooted in Stewardship and Stability
For decades, I’ve been involved in efforts to strengthen families and communities. I’ve helped establish two private schools built on freedom and responsibility rather than compulsion. I’m a founding board member of the Arizona OSR Land Co-op and a board member of the Academy of Self-Reliance, working to build cooperative, self-reliant communities across the Rocky Mountain region.
My lifelong interest in resilient societies has taught me this:
Families who prepare wisely are families who stay strong during difficult times.
The Provident Investor exists to help ordinary families gain clarity, avoid emotional decisions, and build long-term stability — not through speculation, but through disciplined, historically informed insight.
What You Can Expect From Each Briefing
